REDIRECT YOUR AFFECTIONS
“ _Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth_ .” Colossians 3:2 (KJV)
It's amazing how many Christians want to grow in their spiritual life but are not willing to do what the word says about spiritual growth. For instance, what are you going to do about what the Spirit says in our opening scripture? You see,spiritual growth is not accidental.
Isn't it a shame that a child of God,a citizen of the heavenly kingdom and Christ very own ambassador will fix his affection on this world and its lustful affairs? The Bible says: and as Christ soldier,do not let yourself to be tied up in worldly affairs for then you cannot satisfy the one who has enlisted you in his army_ .2Timothy2:4(TLB).
Some people so participate in these Worldly affairs that they even worry about things like: the next episode of their favorite TV show,the scores of an upcoming sports events,the release of a new song from their favourite hip hop artist,the latest fashion in town,an upcoming social gathering e.t.c. And so their hearts begin to beat fast as the times for these programmes approach. Some even go as far as betting with their money on these things. This is carnality and the Bible says “ _For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace_ .”— Romans 8:6 (KJV). And also Luke: 16:15 says ... _for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God_ .
Please do not get me wrong; sometimes these things are not bad in themselves but the affection and attention some Christians give to them is bad. God doesn't want us to be prisoners of our senses. Rather, He wants us to set our minds on the things of the kingdom...the soul winning activities coming up in your church, the Bible seminars,the group evangelism, the things happening in the body of Christ all over the world e.t.c.
To truly walk with God you must be willing to pay the price...the anointing is free but it's not cheap.
SAY: I REFUSE TO BE A SLAVE TO MY SENSES IN JESUS NAME!
